Instructions for participating in virtual mediations and hearings:

  • You need an operational webcam and speakers.
  • You need a stable, private Internet connection. Public networks should not be used. Please use a desktop or laptop computer if you have one. Otherwise, you can use a phone or tablet to join the proceedings.
  • Ensure that you are in a quiet and well-lit environment. Doors should be shut for privacy. This is especially important if you are participating in a virtual mediation, as the Mediation Agreement you signed requires confidentiality.
  • You may not electronically record the proceedings using any means.
  • You will be sent meeting links to connect to your proceeding. You may not forward or share this information with anyone who is not participating in the proceeding.
  • Parties should be prepared to proceed via teleconference should the videoconference option fail, disconnect or lag.
  • To reduce background noise, please mute your audio when you are not speaking.

Joining Zoom:

  • You will have the option to join by Computer Audio or Phone Call. A link or phone number will be sent to you.
  • If you select Computer Audio, click on Join with Computer Audio. Make sure that you have a headset with a microphone or that the microphone on your computer is functional (there’s also a link to test your speaker and microphone). Once connected to the meeting, please activate the webcam by clicking on the Start Video icon.
  • If you select Phone Call, it is very important to click on the meeting URL first to get a Participant ID. When prompted, enter the Meeting ID provided, followed the telephone number and, when prompted again, enter your Participant ID that is displayed on your screen.

Should you require any assistance in these proceedings, please do not hesitate to contact the Registry by email at, by phone at 1- 844-899-3604 or by fax at 613-995-3484.
